Piggy Dave: The Moon in the Square is a Wetherspoons with a difference. The decor seems to have been chosen to reflect the old use of the building as a cafe/restaurant. There were also five people serving, so virtually no wait time at all. I initially bought a pint of 49er but it was sour so returned it to the bar and it was replaced without the barman batting an eyelid. Good service. There was a lovely ambience here, completely different to most other Wetherspoons pubs I have been to and is quite possibly the nicest Wetherspoons pub I’ve ever visited. A different feel with different clientele. It’s slightly more expensive than the other one I visited, but everything considered this was worth the extra 40p a pint. If every Wetherspoons was like this, most pubs in the UK would have closed by now.
