Piggy Dave: Not wildly impressed. They had run out of Tribute (their only real ale) the night before and had just tapped the barrel so reckoned it would probably be back on tomorrow. As a quick lesson in ‘How Not to Run a Pub 101’, that was quite telling. The atmosphere was zero with bland music playing in the background. The serving staff were completely invisible until I tried to take a photo. When he appeared, he tried to convince me that the keg Chieftain Pale Ale was just the same as a real ale because it had the word ale in its name. There are six Guinness pumps in all and numerous lagers. If this is an example of all O’Neill’s pubs then I won’t become a regular anytime soon.
